CROSS CULTURAL PROJECT
SEI ITALIANO e stai studiando inglese oppure sei di MADRELINGUA INGLESE e studi italiano? Hai mai preso parte ad un corso 'cross cultural' tra Italia e Inghilterra? E allora partecipa gratuitamente ai quattro incontri ‘Cross Cultural Project’ che stiamo organizzando!
Per comunicare, la lingua non è tutto; è anche importante sapere come gestire le situazioni con il giusto approccio interculturale.
Gli incontri si terranno nell’arco di due settimane come
segue:
1° settimana: lunedì 24 e giovedì 27 settembre 2012
2° settimana: lunedì 1 e giovedì 4 ottobre 2012
Le lezioni si svolgono dalle ore 19:00 alle ore 20:30, presso la sede
di International House Milano, Piazza Velasca nr. 5 - Torre Velasca, 5° piano.
Affinché possiate ottenere il miglior risultato da questo corso, è
richiesta la frequenza a tutti e quattro gli incontri.
La partecipazione è limitata, per cui affrettatevi a prenotare il
vostro posto…….”first comes, first served”, come dicono gli

Le lezioni saranno riprese con videocamera, alcune immagini saranno
mostrate durante il Convegno linguistico organizzato da International House che
avrà luogo a Milano il 19 ottobre 2012.

Idioms with nationalities
Here is a list of common expressions with nationalities used in spoken English with their definition:
1-To go Dutch: to split the bill in a restaurant between everyone who ate together.
2- It’s all Greek to me: this phrase is used when don’t understand or have no knowledge on a topic.
3- Chinese whispers: a metaphor for mistakes and inaccurate information which comes from rumours or gossip.
4- Pardon my French: This expression is used to apologise usually before, or after, we say something rude or impolite: a swear word.
5- A Mexican Standoff: This is expression is used when two groups can not agree on what to do next. Often used to describe a situation in business where there is gridlock.
6- A Young Turk: Used to describe a young rebel who is part of a group/organization and can’t be controlled
